Dirty Brickster Rules

Dirty Brickster Rules

  • Bring a wrapped LEGO model to the value of $20. It is wrapped so you are unable to view what see what the model is.
    • The item should be something that anyone would appreciate owning – no gag gifts, please.
    • Please avoid LEGO stationary and other LEGO related merchandise that does not contain bricks.
    • It has to be official LEGO product and the original retail value has to be or add up to $20.00.
    • If you manage to find a $20.00 set on sale for $10.00 that’s fine but if you find a $30.00 set on sale for $20.00 that’s even better.
    • You can also give several smaller things that add up to $20.00 but they should be wrapped in one box, not several boxes.
    • If you’re giving an actual LEGO set (which most people do) then it should be unopened.
    • If you’re giving an opened set then it should be at least a few years old and have some kind of undisputed value – something of historic interest, or collectable
    • Your gift has to be wrapped so people can’t tell what it is.

The players form a circle and place the “presents” in the centre. The SydBricks umpire will select at random a person to start. The first person chooses a gift off the table and unwraps it.

The person to the left of person one then can take a gift off the table or steal someone else’s. If they take more than 10 seconds to choose a gift or steal one, they forfeit their turn. If he or she steals a gift, then the person they steal from must choose pick up another from the table. You cannot steal back from someone who just stole from you, but if that gift is stolen again by someone else then you can steal it back from the second person who stole it. Once a gift is stolen three times it is “locked” and placed under the person’s chair. That person and the gift is out of play. Once the “present” pile is depleted, the first person gets one last turn to steal a gift that is not locked. This is because since he went first he didn’t have a chance to steal from anyone at all.

The game is over when all “gifts” have been picked up off the table.

  • When a participant steals a gift, those assembled generally chant “Dirty Brickster! Dirty Brickster! Dirty Brickster!” to the delight of all.
  • Non-locked gifts should be held on the participant’s lap, in plain view of all.
  • Locked gifts should be kept beneath or behind the participant’s chair
